Finished or Unfinished

I was just beginning to love the work I was doing and then BAM, uncertainty crept into my mind (obviously). This is what always happens, and I'm really frustrated with myself. I love the concept of my artwork but I'm not sure how to apply my ideas to my work, do I paint this? Do I not paint this?

I have used my original drawing and an OHP to get the outline onto the canvas. The background has been created using acrylics. I wanted the backgroud to represent the Gothic undertones to the idea behind the drawing of the character. I also think it adds a sexual feel to the painting and juxtaposes the white of her skin very well. This is where I get stuck, I would also like the crystal ball to stand out because that is also an important part of the narrative. So do I paint the ball and leave 'Madame Duvachelle' white? Or faintly paint her with acrylics?

My next step is to create 3 more canvases; to push myself and make portraits for the reast of the characters before ultimately making a short film based on a short story. To occupy myself whilst I was having a mental debate I have created a second portrait drawing of 'Christopher Mereweather' (with the help of one of my classmates).

After I photocopy the final drawing onto acetate I will project it up onto one of the canvases I will be making tomorrow. However, because this is the same minimalist style as the first painting I don't know whether I will have the same problem or whether I will have muddled through the dilemma by then.

Here's hoping!
