Identity can be glamorous...

Usually not my identity though...

Through this painting series I want to make the audience really think about what they're looking at. Not just a girl in a dress and not just a boy in a t-shirt. But the same girl in both situations. Personally, I identify more to the boy in the t-shirt than to this new portrait of the glamorous girl. But that's why this project is important, I want to explore the possibilities of how I can change the way I look and therefore the way I feel about the way I look.

At the moment I don't particularly like the start of this painting. But is that because I don't like the way I am dressed or because I am scared that this portrait won't turn out as well as the last. Time will tell.

(As a side note: personally I think I look like a drag queen in this drawing but Alice and Jess assure me I don't.)

All broad shoulders and skinny legs...
