Uninspired on a Tuesday

Today was going to be the day I painted the dress, but I can't decide on a colour which lead me to think I don't know what I want out of today. So instead of painting the dress I skim read about 6 books I got from the library yesterday. Mostly BP Portrait Award catalogues but also a catalogue called Double Life, focusing on identity and how artists tackle their own and other people's identity through their individual art styles. I liked some of the ideas that surround the book and maybe I will put some into practice.

However, yesterday I finished painting the skin of the painting.

I am happy with the way the skin has turned out, I do find it harder to paint other parts of the body other than the face. I think that the face is my comfort zone, so putting other body parts and material in the painting is a new thing for me. Maybe on some level this is why I don't necessarily feel inspired to paint the dress today because on the other portrait I had Al Pacino's face to paint onto the t-shirt which maybe made me feel a bit more comfortable painting that shirt.

Who knows? But hopefully tomorrow I will feel much more inspired and begin painting the dress.
