During the Summer break I went to visit the Winter Gardens in Sunderland because I heard there was a Canaletto being exhibited there. Personally I love the museum any way because of the history of Sunderland and how much of an attraction the museum itself is. It has put Sunderland on the map in my opinion. The history surrounding the city and how it is represented throughout the exhibits attracts both young and old to the museum. Last year, history was an important thing to me within my artwork however as this year has begun I am swaying more towards the personal. Last year the museum was a real help in inspiring me.
The Canaletto landscape is beautiful.
The paint and the way he has applied it creates such a real quality. It's as if you can take a step forward and submerge yourself in Italian Riviera.
