Experimenting after Assessment Feedback

After my assessment I felt unsure about my work and how I could develop it in a productive way. I was stuck and started sticking things onto canvas that just didn't work out very well at all. However, after yesterday's feedback I was inspired to work wet into wet and try out colour in the backgrounds on a smaller scale just to help my current project out.
Working into pink:
Working into blue:
Working on top of cling film:
Eric advised me that less is more in this loose way of working. The pink portrait is all acrylics but to move my work on I decided to work into the blue acrylic background with oil paints for the first time. I really like the way the blue comes through the face and gives a faded effect to the features. Out of all of these quick paintings I think the blue is my favourite. Similarly with the blue oil painting I like the way the pink comes through into the face from the background in the first painting. And just for another angle I decided to paint oil on top of cling film just to see what would happen on another surface. Once the paint is dry (which could take a long time) I will go into it with blue in the eyes just to give it a finishing touch and then remove the film from the canvas.
