After finishing the 100cm x 100cm self portrait I began painting on board. I wanted to incorporate the fact that at Christmas time we may forget about the people who are less fortunate than us. Not just the homeless, but people who live alone, are old, people who don't have anything at Christmas.
Again, I am using oil paints to create this piece. The texture of the pine has a shine that the oil paint creates on the wood. While I was working and trying to paint in between shifts this was probably one of the best things I could paint. It was very therapeutic and a nice change from portraits over the Christmas break.
Overall, I am very pleased with this piece that compliments the last portrait I have painted. I am wanting the produce a second piece to compliment this series but just haven't had time over the holidays to start it just yet.
