After wanting and wanting to explore my art through film I have eventually plucked up the courage to go to a darker side of my mind and use the camera. I have yet to finish editing and actually filming all of my ideas. I have more ideas for my film work, however they all link to the gory, weird, psychological side of my ideas that I haven't really explored within my paint work.
I have used the blood and red paint to represent sacrifices in witch rituality. However, it may be interpreted as menstraul blood, because the hands are out of shot. In rituals the blood is usually from a sacrifice but there are a lot of other forms of rituals that are linked heavily with sexuality and womanliness. The woman, in spiritual culture, is supposed to be feared. Witches were hunted and killed because of their difference from men in the 17th century, the men were scared of powerful women and therefore took it upon themselves to turn everyone against these women.
Currently this piece is unfinished, I will eventually add a voiceover that represents time. It will be a sonnet by William Shakespeare called "Devouring Time" representing the viciousness of time and how it can change a person, linking to rituals that can supposedly effect the way someone ages.
