I had an idea while I was sitting ill last week and took some selfies of me just barely in shot. I am interested in the idea of drowning and submerging yourself in water. This also links well with my film ideas, the rituals and the witches because of the Salem Witch Trails.
I really enjoyed using graphite on board which I had never tried before. It's a very smoothe and easy application so I think I will try and draw more on board and just leave it as a raw drawing rather than adding water colour and chalk like what I've done with this piece.
I wanted the piece to be able to be viewed from any angle, this is why the circular framed board is important. The bubbles can travel up or down depending on the way the piece is places, giving the impression of submersion. This piece was an experiment for a future painting on a larger canvas that I will be painting onto and reverting back to my more realistic style.
