Submersion

Today I finished the preparation for a large canvas that I am quite excited about. The piece will be reflective of the submersion of the body and how repetition creates an illusion of emphasis. I have always had some form of fixation on repetition, like in first year when my line drawings became repetitions of themselves. I think this brings me out of my shell more for some reason.

I like how, when you draw freehand, the portraits take on their own personalities. And although they are all supposed to be me they all have some form of difference in their expressions, somewhat mocking me and looking down their nose at me. I really like this quality.

I am excited to start painting this later this week.
