Voyeurism

After writing my essay about context I realised that I am really interested in voyeurism and how people can view the person in a painting or video. I feel like nudes and paintings of nude people are more accepted than a video of a naked woman or man. This is why voyeurism is a confusing subject to some people, I will be exploring this in future works that touch upon the notion of looking.

Cindy Sherman was the real inspiration for these ideas because of how she portrayed herself through her earlier works.

Her work is very provocative, as if your looking upon a person who you shouldn't be. This is what I will be focusing on in my new work.

I set up a camera in my bathroom to capture images that are supposed to be very private. The placement of the camera is supposed to represent someone looking through a keyhole or a window, somewhere that shouldn't be available. I have purposely kept a still in here of my looking directly at the camera to show just how easily it is to not realise you are being watched. I will be creating drawings from these stills and also printing these stills off. I haven't decided yet if I want to paint these or just keep them as raw film stills.
